"Plays Well" with PCDS (Personal Computer Debriefing System) - General Projection ties it all together

Introduction

Whether using the high-tech Teac TIDS debriefing system (augmented by General Projection's debriefing control system - see application note) or in conjunction with a debriefing system we have built from the ground-up (based on Sony Hi8mm decks or the more advanced Teac V800G-F/ECB VTR) our system allows the debriefer to easily setup and align PCDS debriefings with or without the 8mm tapes generated on the plane.

Personal Computer Debriefing System
Now you can control 4, 8 or more tapes simultaneously with PCDS or simply control PCDS just like it was a VCR itself!

Display quad images of multiple 8mm decks on one screen while interacting with PCDS on the other screen through our touch panel, SmartBoard or Smart Sympodium.

The new Smart Sympodium allows for additional interaction between debriefer, our system and PCDS.

Combined with our high-resolution, full-video output quad system and the controller, debriefing from virtually any type of aircraft record is easier than ever.

These solutions are tailored to control Personal Computer Debriefing System (PCDS) from Pax River, Air Combat Maneuvering Instrumentation (ACMI) and Advanced Display and Debriefing System (ACMI ADDS) running from PC's as well.

Design

PCDS provides a digital "recording" of the events, aircraft location and other key elements required to perform "after action" training debriefs.

Installed on a standard PC, this powerful recording of the data needed to know where each plane was and what it did provides the debriefer with the ability to quickly analyze each event from a variety of perspectives.

Normally, control over this is exerted using the computer keyboard and mouse. However, for many debriefers simply "playing" and manipulating this output is much easier using our touch panel control system in conjunction with the PCDS computer and a complete debriefing system.

Success

Air Wings of various types are implementing this new solution with great success.

Recently implemented by many different wings, the Arkansas Air National Guard had General Projection provide the "PCDS synched with 8mm VTR's" debriefing capability for the 188th Fighter Wing at Ft. Smith, Arkansas.

As noted, the debrief or debriefing stations can be obtained in several configurations. One uses a "smart lectern" with built in speaker and custom-configured to match the decor of the command. A built in LCD monitor shows the presenter what is being displayed on the large screen display system.

A slide out keyboard tray provides for interaction with a local PC and a notebook computer connection allows for impromptu briefings from portable computers.

A complete, rugged, ATA-rated shipping case system is included.

Another format includes shock-mounted rack cases which are ready-to-ship but do not provide a lectern from which to brief.

Many commands are purchasing permanently installed systems for 2, 4, 6 or 8 debriefing rooms as well as a number of deployable systems for quick shipment.

Control
The entire system is automated via an AMX control system with special programming to provide for the synchronization of the PCDS and VTR's during mission debriefs. From this same touch panel the entire presentation can be controlled including the selection of DVD or VHS tape playback, computer display, volume control, etc.

One, wireless color touch panel runs the entire debriefing system as well as automatically synchronizing the VTR's for mission playback and comparison.
