Introduction The U.S. Air Force trains all levels of officers and enlisted men and women at the Air University, Maxwell AFB, Alabama.
Air University conducts professional military education, graduate education and professional continuing education for officers, enlisted personnel and civilians to prepare them for command, staff, leadership and management responsibilities. Nearly 75 percent of all newly commissioned officers begin their careers after completing Air University's Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps or Officer Training School programs. A school rich in Air Force history, it had requirements to match top-level classroom facilities with media capabilities to enhance training. General Projection was hired to do this for the Air University. Design Most of the emphasis for this project was on audio intelligibility. Classrooms are often designed more for teacher-student interaction than for the best acoustics or audio capabilities. For this
design, General Projection installed an automatic mixing system, microprocessor
controlled audio assignment and high-end amplification and speakers by
Crown and JBL. Automated control is exerted using a custom-designed AMX control system. This allows instructors to quickly setup and execute presentations to the students.

Success Training mid-level officers for future command is a serious task. With the ability to display computer graphics, playback a video and interact with students, the professors at the Air University now have the tools to do this job right the first time!
