Introduction The Cape Canaeral Hospital is now part of the HealthFirst chain of large, healthcare-providing hospitals. General Projection was asked to design and build a complete medical training/telemedicine capable faccility. Design The teaching portion of the hospital consists of three large training facilities. The largest is capable of being subdivided further using moveable walls. General Projection needed to design a system that would allow the hospital to use the rooms in a variety of configurations.
Automation was to be the key so that any change in the use of the rooms (and how they are physically combined or separated) could be handled electronically with the push of a button. Our systems included three projection systems and three separate AV capabilities all tied together in a centralized control room. Voice reinforcement would normally be hanlded via the lecterns with wired microphones or through wireless microphones for presenters who wished to move about the room(s).

Automated "assignment" of the various audio and video sources would allow the hospital the ability to change the configuration of the rooms and have the AV systems follow whether the systems were "growing" or "shrinking" to meet the new configruration. Success The facility is used to train a variety of different disciplines. Further, MD and nurse groups are able to schedule portions of the facility for refresher courses and training on new procedures and products. The system
can also be used for telemedicine and teletraining applications through
the use of in-coming satelite feeds and conferencing equipment at the
central equipment room. For more information on medical training and telemedicine system design and integration or other medical multimedia communications systems, please fill out our Information Request form or email us at Solutions@genproj.com |
