Introduction

One of the nation's largest and most prestigious insurers, United States Fidelity and Guaranty Corporation provides policies for construction and a large variety of business needs.

Like any corporation the size of USF&G, the firm requires the latest in communications and training capabilities. To that end, USF&G has built training centers and board facilities for senior management to meet and learn about where the company is going.

Design

General Projection was asked to design and build a number of USF&G facilities to make sure that each met the needs of the company for training, presentation and meeting support and video conferencing.

The Mount Washington board room is simply one of the many facilities, nationwide, that General Projection has assisted USF&G to develop.

The technology had to both support the large variety of needs for the board of directors as well as aesthetically match the decor of the room.

General Projection designed a "smart lectern" to run the entire system while support equipment is located in racks in adjacent rooms. Hidden displays and speakers allow the technology to be "seen and heard" when desired or to be unobtrusive when not needed.

High-resolution LCD projection was selected for this installation for both reliability and ease-of-maintenance. Sony VPL series projection systems were installed.

An AMX lectern-mounted touch panel as well as fully wireless keyboard allow users to present either at the lectern or from anywhere in the room.

Hidden microphones pick up for voice reinforcement and video conferencing.

Success

The system has served the needs of the board members and other users of the room well. Like all of the systems built in this and other USF&G facilities by General Projection, ease-of-use and automation are the keys to fact that any presenter can walk into any room and be up and running quickly.
