Introduction Metropolitan Life is the sponsor of the "Wonders of Life" pavilion in EPCOT, Florida. MetLife asked General Projection Systems to integrate what would become the largest single A/V system in EPCOT Center, Walt Disney World. One of the unique requests for Met was the desire to build their Board of Directors room within this facility. General Projection worked closely with the architect, A/V consultant and construction management to ensure the smooth installation of the system. Design The system includes remotely operated cameras which allow guests to view areas of the pavilion, eight (8) video projection systems including the "Goofy Wall" where guests are greeted by Goofy as soon as they step off an elevator (this is all computer controlled), and a sound system which far exceeds the average concert hall system. The facility is made up of a dining and meeting facility, a multi-purpose conference facility and an elegant Board of Director's room for MetLife board meetings. Each of these
is served by complete audiovisual subsystems that tie back to the main
control room which runs the entire facility. An AMX remote control network was designed and programmed to allow for easy control of all functions including lighting, curtain control and room reconfigurations. Throughout the facility, hundreds of thousands of dollars of AV equipment has been installed. Connecting this equipment together is approximately 375 miles of General Projection installed cable.

Success Though General Projection has had many prestigious projects, management considers the MetLife project to be of particular significance in its history. The project is a "show case" for the company. Cutting edge interface work such as the computerized Goofy greeting demonstrates the high tech capability of General Projection. The Wonders of Life pavilion is EPCOT's busiest. With millions of visitors each year, the pavilion provides excellent information regarding health and the body to every age group. MetLife utilizes the facility not only to showcase its products and name, but for a tremendous number of corporate events (including Board of Directors meetings). Facilities both in front and behind the scenes allow Met and Disney the flexibility to please both the tourist as well as the corporate client.
