Introduction A regular partner of Lockheed Martin for government command center projects, new Lockheed facilities and the like, General Projection became a natural selection for Lockheed Martin's newest project: the Center for Innovation.
The huge 50,000 square foot facility, located in Suffolk, Virginia was planned from the start to offer Lockheed divisions and customers a place for integration of technologies, experimentation, analysis and visualization. Reconfigurable "sectors" were created to support civil, intelligence and DoD processing as well as sensitive projects. Global networking, net-centric capabilities and the ability to house actual aircraft and vehicles, simulators and other devices to allow for full on-board demonstrating and experimentation meant building an internal audiovisual and video conferencing capability to support a very diverse set of requirements and users. Design General Projection was asked to design and build a large number of auditorium and conference rooms as well as sector and capability support functions since almost every element of the project involves visualization and audiovisual capabilities.
Flexible, high resolution systems were designed and implemented throughout the building to meet Lockheed Martin's varying requirements. From a theater-like auditorium capability centered on Christie Digital's award winning Roadie 25K projector, Crestron control and a complete JBL surround sound system to the gigantic projection screens that support command center type functions in the various sectors state-of-the-art technology was utilized to create the ultimate visualization experience.

Most systems utilize high-resolution (SXGA+ or UXGA), high power (6,000 to 25,000 lumen) Christie Digital projection systems and are augmented by Clarity Visual Systems UXGA Lion video wall cubes as well as Bay Cat and Bobcat LCD Displays and Bengal DLP systems.
Homeland security applications even include a networked police cruiser demonstrating Lockheed Martin's ability to put information into "First Responder's" hands quickly and efficiently. Complete
Control Network... Drake
Wayson, president of General Projection said: "We are very excited
to have designed the C For I around the Crestron
control system technologies. Every system has several of the beautiful TPS-6000 touch panels. Total networking of the multiple PRO2 controllers will allow users and our permanent staff to monitor systems and make complicated fiber optic routing changes on the fly from their desk. Our partnership with Crestron on this project was the right choice!"
Success Known also as "The Lighthouse", Lockheed Martin's newest and one-of-a-kind facility opened to rave reviews from the press and dignitaries who have visited the beautiful and high-tech spaces. Now Lockheed Martin personnel can conduct defense demonstrations to Army officials in one sector while "flying" an F/A-22 in another and showing a major city's police chief how Lockheed Martin's latest first responder technology works all at the same time and within the same facility. In this way, customers and VIP's can understand the true connection that exists between all aspects of the various Lockheed Martin technologies and products.
