Introduction The Entergy
Corporation, headquartered in New Orleans, is one of America's largest
utility conglomerates. This multi-billion dollar entity Additionally, the firm is an international developer of power and energy resources. In order to properly manage this vast enterprise, the firm hired General Projection to first build its senior management training and communications complex in Jackson, Mississippi. This project, dubbed Power House, consisted of a vast array of audio visual, video conferencing and inter-networking capabilities. This facility is used as a base of corporate communications for Entergy. From that, General Projection was brought to New Orleans to ensure that the headquarters facility (particularly the corporate boardroom) was properly interconnected to the communications network and was enhanced to provide every possible audio visual capability. It is from the boardroom that the corporation makes its decisions on entry into new international markets and communicates with management worldwide. To continue in this vein, Entergy has had General Projection commence the build up of the "power grid communications network." This will provide additional capability for any Entergy operation to fully communicate with any other. While General Projection is not providing the actual data connectivity and routing, it is integrating the video conferencing and audio visual aspects of the corporation's communications resources to those data networks (which is our typical role). Facilities have been completed for Entergy at nuclear plants in Louisiana and Arkansas. The network will continue to expand in order to provide consistent communications and data capabilities throughout the corporation. Not only did this continued partnership require General Projection to provide the practical aspects of facility integration, electronics design and system installation but, as importantly, to actually work with Entergy to ensure that their expansion programs are properly planned to take into account existing systems, communications needs and requirements and emerging communications technologies.

Design The "Power House" in Jackson, Mississippi has become Entergy's primary training facility. Through the use of graphics projectors, audio systems, video conferencing components and fully automated remote control systems, hundreds of Entergy staff members have been trained and communicated with.
The Boardroom in New Orleans was provided with a sophisticated control and audio system to enhance a formidable display capability. Automated microphones surround a beautiful board table that is used by the directors of the company during decision making processes. The video conferencing network continues to grow. The integrated nature of Entergy's communications systems allow conferences in Jackson, New Orleans, Arkansas and California to be "on-line" simultaneously. The addition of new responsibilities and facilities such as Yankee Maine will demonstrate the power of Entergy's communications capabilities. Success Today Entergy is using communications technologies that General Projection has built in New Orleans, Mississippi, Arkansas and Los Angeles to enhance their ability to transfer knowledge and manage such a vast enterprise. Through high-quality and reliable devices tied together by sophisticated automation systems that make the system user-friendly, Entergy is improving service to millions of customers that depend on the firm to heat their homes and light their way.
